Circassia Out-licenses ToleroTrans Organ Transplant Anti-Rejection Technology to Oxford Immunotec

OXFORD, UK - 12th August 2010 - Circassia Ltd, a specialty biopharmaceutical company focused on allergy, today announced the out-licensing of its ToleroTrans organ transplant anti-rejection technology to Oxford Immunotec.  Under the terms of the agreement, Oxford Immunotec will pay Circassia an undisclosed fees plus royalties on sales.

Organ transplantation is a complex medical undertaking, which requires the careful management of immunosuppressive drugs to reduce the risk of rejection.  Insufficient immunosuppression can result in a patient's immune system reacting strongly against the donated organ, while toxic levels of drugs may also lead to rejection.  Circassia's ToleroTrans T-cell technology has the potential to distinguish between these leading causes of rejection, allowing improved patient management, and consequently a reduced risk of rejection and better outcomes.

"We are delighted that a company with Oxford Immunotec's proven track record of bringing world-leading diagnostic products to market will be driving our ToleroTrans technology forward," said Steve Harris, Circassia's CEO.  "Organ transplant is a hugely underserved area of medicine, and we believe that ToleroTrans has the potential to greatly reduce the risk of rejection for these gravely ill patients."
